“Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy: A Therapist’s Guide” is an excellent resource that discusses the theory of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), practice and procedures of REBT, case examples, and behavioral exercises. The ABC theory of disturbance and irrational beliefs are reviewed. The book guides the therapist in REBT assessment of clients, types of disputations, emotive/experiential techniques (i.e., rational emotive imagery, role playing), and behavioral techniques (i.e., reinforcements, shame attacking exercises, paradoxical homework). In addition, the authors discuss how to integrate REBT with other systems of therapy such as Psychoanalytic, Gestalt, Person-Centered, Interpersonal Relationship, Family Systems, and other Cognitive Behavior Therapies.
